Molly Wei, the former Rutgers University student involved in the secret videotaping of Tyler Clementi, made a plea deal with prosecutors yesterday, in that state of New Jersey. Instead of serving jail time and having a conviction on her record, Wei has been admitted into the Pre-Trial Intervention Program. The program will consist of fines, community service and sensitivity training.
In addition Wei has agreed to testify against co-defendant Dharun Ravi, 19 who has been indicted on numerous felony counts including, invasion of privacy. Tyler committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge after he discovered he was secretly being videotaped during an intimate encounter. That video was being broadcast unbeknown to Clementi. Apparently, according to documented reports, there were two broadcasts. Molly Wei's agreement requires that she remain on the PTI program for three years. If Wei succeeds the charges will be dismissed.
