A New School Year Means More Suicides!

It is just the beginning of the school year and already there has been reports of suicide regarding bullying. Bart Palosz a 15-year-old Connecticut boy shot and killed himself on August 27th, 2013. Friends report he had endured years of relentless bullying. Palosz was a high school sophomore who attended Greenwich High School in Greenwich Connecticut.

Reports indicate he was picked on for his size, 6 feet, 3 inches tall, where friends described him as a "giant sweetheart" and "a bit awkward".  Like many bullied children, Bart found solace in adult friendships.  It is normal for children who are bullied to shy away from school functions, gym or lunchrooms in an effort to avoid the abuse.  Unfortunately, children do not have the option to isolate themselves from the bullies by leaving school.  It is these situations where children sometime believe the only way out is suicide.

Parents in this case were aware of the bullying however the School District did nothing to stop it or protect Bart. Sadly, this young man took his own life and now investigators are looking into the whirlwind of allegations.
